Energy Digital Transformation
Without a doubt, the energy sector is undergoing a substantial shift, and digitalization is one of the key facilitators in ensuring that this transition is accomplished. As a matter of fact, today’s energy sector as well as its complete value chain are strongly driven by the new digital revolution. The tendency to have a higher integration of DERs in modern grids combined with the necessity to transform the conventional energy grid into a smart energy grid that meets both utilities and consumers expectations and helps to overcome new market challenges such as the high volatility of energy prices and new patterns of demand, make from the adoption of new digital technologies at the core of the energy sector an inevitability. In this sense, digital technologies, such as AI, IoT and blockchain, comes into play as new game changers that offer the means to monitor and control the currently reshaped decentralized energy value chain.

Digitalization in the energy sector - a critical vector for reducing GHG emission in the EU
The need for an accelerated energy transition calls for increased synergies between the intermittent generation and the vast and increasing energy demand sources (electricity, transportation, heating). In this context, digitalization - as an overarching set of technologies and services - is able to efficiently facilitate this integration, while also improving the scores of the remaining dimensions of the "energy trilemma" - energy of supply and equity. Moreover, considering today's geopolitical context and the challenge to reduce consumption and energy imports as fast as possible, digitalization is a critical driver, as its fast deployment pace makes it a fast response measure to current needs.

Pável Szerbin

Renewables and Nuclear Energy in One Grid
The technological development of renewable energies - mainly wind and solar – was exponential over the last two decades, and it is likely to continue in the future. But intermittent (weather-dependent) renewables are still not able to cover our electricity needs 24/7. Besides of sustainability and climate-neutrality, security of energy supply is the top priority for consumers. Consequently, reliable power generation should be based on investment decisions, that provide a level playing field for all perspective and sustainable low-carbon technologies, including nuclear energy.

TECHNICAL-PROGRAM

Panel discussion - Fit for 55

As part of the European Green Deal, the European Commission accepted the “Fit For 55” package. The package aims to help with achieving the EU's 2030 climate target by introducing new policies to bring positive changes, aligning current laws with 2030 and 2050 ambitions. As an intermediate step towards climate neutrality, the law sets out to reduce net emissions by 55%. We will explore this topic in a panel discussion with the representatives of different market players. The moderator will be Gábor Szörényi.

AEE Seminar

The main topic of the event will be the energy audit. The two main speaker will be Dusan Petras and Zoltán Czinege. Dusan Petras' presentation will be about Energy monitoring as the part of energy management.

Zoltán Czinege - energy workshop as a modern audit technique

Today we live in the age of audits. A significant part of the work of the colleagues who bring together the management systems of a manufacturing company is now the preparation for audits and the external and internal audits themselves. It is also a tremendous stress for the organisation, which increasingly hinders real problem solving and continuous improvement.
In recent years, this pressure has also been increasing in corporate energy management, and loss detection colleagues often encounter defensive attitudes that can easily mask certain energy efficiency opportunities.
Consequently, the process of energy loss detection needs to be rethought and techniques need to be applied to enable efficient work. A good way to do this is to introduce elements of workshops based on the Japanese kaizen philosophy and kaizen event techniques. It is important to adapt to the culture and maturity of the organisation and finally to consider the preparedness of the colleagues involved.
Energy workshops held in recent years in a multinational corporate environment will illustrate the mistakes we have made and, in the end, the elements that have become good practice today.

IEEE Workshop - speaker Mr. Péter Magyar - Region 8 Life Members Coordinator, past chair of IEEE IAS CMD.

The workshop presentation gives an overview about IEEE history and recent status importance and organizational structure. The impact of the technical development on the membership and the impact of the membership development on the professional activity is discussed. Examples demonstrate typical activities of Chapters, Student Branches and Student Branch Chapters as well as Consultant Network, Women in Engineering, Young Professionals and Life Members Affinity Groups. The committee structure of a well working IEEE Section and Region is demonstrated. This gives also an answer to the frequently question “how to join?”.
The participants are encouraged to share best practices and remarkable experiences of their own activities and their IEEE organization units.

Young Professional Workshop

In the last some years, several influence factors have reached our life, highlighting the covid pandemic situation, situation of women in the energy sector. Nowadays the generation YZ is used to change their job in every few years, which may not be sustainable in the long term. During the workshop we are looking for the answer to the question "what kind of challenges young professionals and women may face in the energy industry?'. The workshop will also highlight YP and WIE opportunities in IEEE. The lecture will be held by Dr. Richárd Cselkó, member of IEEE Industry Applications Society Chapters and Membership Department, Vice-head of High Voltage Laboratory Budapest.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Those of you who have already been to one of the IYCEs, know that one key specialty of our conference is that aside from keeping the professional standards high, we lay great emphasis on making these few days memorable on a social level as well.
Brace yourselves for 2022, because we are preparing some awesome and “electrifying” social events, in order to offer you opportunities to connect with likeminded people, and at last, but not least - to feel yourselves great! During the social event we organise activities in the city of Eger.
On Friday, participants can enjoy a gala dinner. Travel to the gala dinner venue will be organized, further information will be provided locally.
